The Watch Hill 15 fleet is off to a strong start this spring, with three days of racing in the books and some great stories already emerging on the water.
Memorial Day – May 24
We kicked off the season in style with a recent record of 8 boats on the line for Memorial Day racing. Conditions started a bit damp with light rain, but the skies cleared and the breeze filled in nicely for two solid races. The first race counted toward the Memorial Day trophy, and both races counted toward the Spring Series.
Summersalt (12) took bullets in Race 1 and 2, with Tight Squeeze (24) Hi Toots! (15) in 2nd and 3rd for the first race. Bahama Gal (10) and Goose (22) where 2nd and 3rd for Race 2.

Wednesday Night Series – May 27
Mother Nature had other ideas for the Wednesday night fleet. With almost no wind to speak of, the Race Committee came close to calling it off – but the sailors persevered and got one race in under a beautiful sky. Hi Toots (15) led wire-to-wire, with Goose (22) and Bahama Gal (10) rounding out the podium. Five boats made the Wednesday night results.

May 31 – Saturday Series on Sunday
What would normally have been a Saturday race day was moved to Sunday so the fleet could attend the Celebration of Life service for Bud Brooks. It was a meaningful gesture that speaks to the close-knit nature of this community.
Back on the water, a fresh breeze greeted the fleet and PRO George Nicolas ran two clean races. Hi Toots! (15) had a great day, winning Race 1 and 2. The battle for position behind her was fierce, with several ties in the Spring Series standings requiring tiebreakers to sort out final places.

More racing to come – see you on the water!
